“Rock
for Hope” is active in raising funds to equip a Teen Room designed for
kids’ relaxation, diversion and escape during all day visits to the
clinic for chemotherapy and blood transfusion at City of Hope. The Teen
Room is very important because proper medical treatment is only a small
part of the recovery process. Cancer affects everyone, regardless of
age. For pediatric and adolescent patients, a cancer diagnosis can be
especially frightening. They need a place where they can “hang out”
with their peers, share experiences and distract themselves by playing
video games and listening to their favorite music. The Teen Room provides
them with all of this. We are presently looking into other initiatives
that will support these adolescent patients as well. |
